Happy Birthday, Granny Barrett

Granny and Krishawn sitting 1974
Born tiny and 2 months premature in 1915 in the hills of Kentucky, Granny wasn't expected to live.  Her Indian grandma took her in to care for her, as Granny's mom already had 6 other kids in their small mining-camp house.  Granny was rubbed with olive oil and set in an open box by the fireplace to keep her warm.  Her grandma fed her milk from an eye dropper and returned her to her mom when she was strong and fat.

I miss her everyday.  I constantly draw from her kindness when caring for you, and I try to be as loving and patient with you as she was with me.
